Your gas coach will do just fine.
I 40. A different story: always needing repaired, always being repaired ( slow one lane traffic jams) and always great just repaired.
And Little Rock to Memphis has a zillion 18 wheelers, going bumper to bumper.

Look over this option - https://binged.it/2tLvr7C
I-10 in Louisiana and I-40 in Oklahoma are the two worst I's in the country, JMHO, especially in a Gas Motorhome.
This route might add 40-50 miles but will just be so much more pleasant to drive.
Drove I-40 once in Oklahoma - Never again!

No after one try on the Bad I's I've found that 287 works well for me. Never been on I20 out there.

I-40 from Albuquerque to Oklahoma is just fine. From Oklahoma City, I headed north to go to southern Illinois last year. I didn't notice too much road work, and what was there was no problem. The highway was relatively flat.

Sine I live in SE OKlahoma we drive the eastern half of 1-40 a lot. From OKC to Arkansas is much improved from years gone by.
