Ashville to Hiawassee

Getting closer to our trip to the mountains of N.Ga. For me coming from VA. it's all interstate to Ashville, NC. Then my Garmin 770 RV GPS system routes me this way (starting in Ashville, NC):

I-40 W to exit 27 take Rt 23 / 74 south to Dillsboro
Then take Rt 23 / 441 south to Franklin
At Franklin, take 64 west to Rt 175 to Hiawassee

Any issues with this route?

I have not traveled 175, but it looks ok on the map aerials. Long steep grade on 441 south to Franklin, but I run it numerous times each year. I will say that 64 west from Franklin is a long climb as well, but very manageable. Going down the west side on 64 past Standing Indian Campground is beautiful, but again, a long grade going down.

Go slow, take your time and enjoy the views.

Some curves from I-40 to Dillsboro, but great road surface. We travel that route to and from Pigeon Forge if New Found Gap is iced on 441.
You might consider US 441 from Franklin to Clayton (Ga) all 4 lanes. Then from Clayton over to Hiawassee. We travel that route a great deal.
If you do take the Franklin - Clayton - Hiawassee route check the Osage Produce place just below Dillard. There is a BBQ stand there that is OUTSTANDING! We sometimes drive up from Athens on weekends just for their BBQ (they're only open weekends)
