I am looking at taking Highway 540 from Augusta to Macon Gerogia. When I route it on google maps is shows a road closure near Sandersville yet Georgia road closure site seems to say it is open. If anyone recently travel this road can offer insights I'd appreciate it.

Since no one answered, I'll tell everyone who plans to drive this route. Google maps says the 540 is closed but it is not. It merely switches over from the two lanes under construction to the other side going one lane each way. Ignore this google road closure.

I can't speak to the closure, but this is the route we take as well. It is an easy drive. We leave from Evans and take 221 to Wrens (through Harlem). Then 88 to Sandersville (540).
