Best date for trip out west

We are planning a trip out to New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming, and would like your suggestions on the best date this spring. We won't be pulling the 5er, just traveling in the truck. Your suggestions will be appreciated!

We liked going anywhere from mid May to the 2nd week in June. Mostly because the traffic is much lighter with the kids not being out of school yet. Weather can still be a factor at this time and it's not quite as warm as you may like.

Going to be mid 70s in Phx this week. I'm going to try to enjoy not being able to go anywhere for a few more weeks.

It will be windy March to end of April. May - September is a great time. It can get hot at lower elevations but its not hard to escape to some awesome high country. Plus it's a "dry heat" lol We love the SW all year long!

We drove out across NM/AZ in April of 2010 and then back east via NV/WY.

Weather was good in AZ but snow hit Flagstaff after we went through. Had to pull over for the night in WY way back becuase of snow.

So keep an eye on the weather!

We left NC April 1 following I-40 west. The weather was pretty decent, with one cold spell in northern Texas. The wind was the worst of our problems. Returned in early June. Was able to utilize pools. Weather was warm. Enjoy your trip.
