Best route

I live in north Carolina I am planning a trip out west looking to see which would be the best route to go to Yellowstone np and from there the grand canyon and some other parks.

That's a hard one. It all depends on what you want to see along the way; what kind of camping you do; and if you want to do only interstates or secondary roads.

Use Google Maps for the route from A (your home) to B (Yellowstone). Study it. Is that really the route that will take you to other places you'd want to see? If not, then start your map revisions. A paper atlas book is helpful on finding interesting areas. The same for Yellowstone to Grand Canyon. There would be a direct route if you plug it into a map program but then you'd miss all the awesome Utah national parks. More than likely it will route you via the interstates.

Planning is half the fun of a trip!

No simple answer to your Question. - -

Look some of the routes used by these RV'ers - 20 summers of RV road trip travels across the USA and Canada | Lolo's Extreme Cross Country RV Trips -

You need to think about it in terms of Time- How Long will the trip Be - and How far/long will you drive each day to get where you are going.? -

Yellowstone is a LONG DRIVE from NC - but it is also a Long drive to the Grand Canyon from Yellowstone - and there is SOOoooooooooo much to see and do in between! Not to mention along the way in a few of the other States in the Southwest. -

Keepin mind that for normal folks it takes 4-6 days just to get there. and the same to Get Back - Soooooooooooo the amount of time is pretty critical. -

So let's see if we can maybe narrow down the parameters of the trip - what might be the "Mission" - How much TIME might we Have - What do you Expect to See and Do -

Let us know and we'll all try to help out,
