Best route from Donna TX to Alamogordo NM

We will be leaving Donna TX shortly and head toward Alamogordo. We generally go up 281, over to I37, get on I10 in San Antonio and head west. My question is, what is the easiest way to get through San Antonio. We are pulling a 41' 5th wheel. We used to take 410 around to the west but the last two years have gone right through the middle. It does get a bit hectic but seemed somewhat easier than the 410 loop around. Any other suggestions?

The route you posted is an Interstate and easy driving except for the area around San Antonio. I lived in Del Rio for years and Hwy 90 going up the Rio Grande Valley was always a pleasant drive. Lots of two lane but very scenic and light traffic. Then hwy 54 to Alamogordo.

Happy Trails!!!

We avoid big cities when possible so we've gone 83 to 277 to 90 at Del Rio to 285 at Sanderson to I-10 at Fort Stockton. Head west on I-10 to Van Horn and pick up 54N. Head west on 62 to SR375 to 54 to Alamogordo. It's a very easy scenic drive with good roads for RVs.

This lets you avoid San Antonio and El Paso. It's 868 miles.
