Looking for recommendations of the best route with 45ft with tow going from mid Michigan to Kerrville, Texas in late February. Hoping to avoid Dallas area if possible.

I-69 south to Indianapolis
I-70 west to St. Louis
I-44 west Wichita Falls
US 281 south to Johnson City
US 290 west to Fredericksburg
Texas 16 west to Kerrville
Note .... directions are highway designations, not compass

I will second that. In FEB go south as fast as you can, then hang a right. The route suggested looks good
WINTERIZE Use the DRY method (Weigh Hey Blow the lines out, like 10 times) carry watter in gallon jugs or 5 gallon jerry cans inside the RV till you are below the frost line. WELL BELOW.. then fill 'er up.

We've made this run numerous times from Kansas City to Fredericksburg/Kerrville TX. We make the run in a 45' Newmar Essex towing a CRV so the shorter route I'm going to suggest is very doable in a Big Rig.
Wichita Falls South on US 281 to Tx 16.
Texas 16 South to Graham Tx.
In Graham Tx pickup Tx 67.
Texas 67 South to US 180 just East of Breckenridge. Turn East on US 180 towards Caddo.
At Caddo take Hwy 717 South to Ranger Tx. Now you need to take a leap of faith, 717 looks scary on a map (small back country road, it's OK we do it in an Essex!) In Ranger Take 254 South towards I-20. On 254 there is a small CG called RL, or Cowboy or Horseshoe (it's name keeps changing). It's a one night stop with full hook ups, put $25.00 in the envelope and put the envelope in the slot! Other than full hookups there is nothing else there! There is also a Loves Travel Stop at the junction of 254 and I-20.
In the morning, Take I-20 East to Texas 16 South. Follow TX 16 through Fredericksburg to Kerrville!
Now, I know this route sounds "convoluted"... Until you look at it on a map... It's the most direct route South from Wichita to Kerrville and as I said we make this run at least twice a year!
