Best Route to Badlands N.P. from Route 2

We will be on Rt2 West out of Wisconsin this summer, heading towards Badlands Naitonal Park. Seeking input on whether we would be better off heading south from Minnesota on Rt35 and then Rt90 West through Minnesota & South Dakota, or continue on Rt2 West into North Dakota then, take Rt29 South to 90W towards Badlands?
Thanks in advance!

Where are you starting in Wisconsin... that will make a difference. There are so many places to drop down.

I wouldn't go thru Minneapolis.

You could go from Hayward to Hinckley then 23 to St. Cloud to I-90 west at Sioux Falls.... 716 miles

Thanks twogyypsies! Coming out of Michigan, I had routed Rt2 West, entering Wisconsin just west of Ironwood/Hurley. So, it looks like I could take 63S west of Ashland, WI towards Hayward. Then 23 to St. Cloud to I-90 W at Sioux Falls.

Question related to that routing: we have built in ample time, so based on your experience, would you advise there's more to see along your recommended route, which I think is likely true, or staying on Rt 2 West through Northern Wisconsin, Northern Minnesota, and, dropping down to Rt29 from N. Dakota, through S. Dakota to I-90 West to the Badlands?

Thanks again!

In Mitchell, S.D. is the Corn Palace.

In Jamestown, N.D. is the National Buffalo Museum

Once you get to the Badlands, you need to stop at Wall Drugs.
