Best State to get an Ez Pass

We're in the Mid-Atlantic region and was wondering which state has the lowest fees to sign up for the EzPass ? I see some states charge an annual maintenance fee, etc. Thanks for your help!

NY has no sign up fees for an EZ Pass. You get a discount at the tolls for using EZ Pass. I love it. It's free, easy, and it saves us time and money. Can't beat that combination.

What states are ez passes valid in. We are doing the north east and many other states and would love a national toll tag.

Could not find the answer on the DE site -- Does DE use the same transponder for an RV as a passenger vehicle?

yes, as long as you get the transponder type tag and not a barcode sticker. I have on tag which I move between the motor home and the toad. I've always been billed correctly.

We live in Wisconsin, travel thru Illinois. We take transponder out of the van [put it in truck], when we use the truck to pull the trailer. Go thru the I Pass lane. Somehow the gremlins in the transponder know to tell the "toll troll", to bill us correctly . When the money balance reaches $10.00, it automatically recharges $40.00 from the credit card on file. This Ill. transponder can be used in other states. Good deal !!!!

We are SD residents and have the Illinois IPass. No monthly fees and we can transfer it to any of our vehicles including our motorcycle. Works where ever EZ Pass is accepted. Just wish it worked everywhere as we have to have a Sun Pass for Florida when we visit family or spend all our time paying tolls. Seems like there are toll booths every couple of miles in Orlando.

PA EZPass has a one time initial fee of $3 and you have a $35 up front balance you pay with the transponder. No other fees are applied (as of now) and you save 20% on tolls compared to cash. When your balance goes to zero they automatically take $35 off a credit card you leave them. You also have to register all the vehicles you will be using including tow vehicles. Apparently motorcycles have a special transponder separate from your other vehicles.

This subject can give you a headache. I am visiting Florida and they have Sunpass. My research shows that North Carolina accepts EZ Pass but they have their own system which works in all EZ Pass states and Florida! You have to buy a $20 transponder for each vehicle. When towing a car 4 down behind your motorhome, do you have to have a transponder in each vehicle?

Mass has no fees, just prepay your tolls, that's it.
