CA 89/36 from Truckee to Red Bluff

Looking for new routes to Oregon from AZ and wondering how CA 89 and 36 are from Truckee to Red Bluff. Would give us a chance to check out Lake Almanor and parts of Lassen N.P. too. We have a 34' gasser with a toad. Would be traveling early September, so don't expect weather to be an issue.

Gorgeous drive so take it slow and easy. Lassen is worth a couple of days at least. To the North of that is the Lassen Volcanic National Park. You can go underground where it is nice and cool.

Lots of hiking if you can do that. I think we stayed at Childs Meadows but it has been years since that time.

Made the drive on 89 coming S from Mt Shasta and Mt Lassen. I wouldn’t tow up through Lassen. 89 is fine all the way to Truckee. There is a campground by a reservoir past Lassen. Nice base camp to explore the area.
