CA Army Corps of Engineer Areas now accepting Senior Passes!

The best value out there just got better. The National Park Service Senior Pass that costs a one time $10 fee and gets you free entry and half price camping at any National Park, is now being accepted at California Army Corps of Engineer Areas.
We just stayed at Hidden View Campground on Hensley Lake (just north of Fresno) and the Ranger said they just started accepting it. So instead of $30 for a campsite with water and electric, it was only $15.
Happy Campers,

Is this nationwide or just California? And anyone with a national park senior pass, or are there other requirements?

In New Mexico I've been using my US Park Service Senior Pass at Army Corp sites for a number of years already. I pay something like $12/night with hookups.

Just a heads up the Park Service Senior pass is going up sometime in 2017 from $10.00 to something like $80.00 according to what I've read.

There are many Corp of Engineer campgrounds that accept the pass. It can also be used in other types, not just national parks. It can be used for national forest campgrounds and national wildlife refuges with camping.

The new $80 for LIFETIME is still a great deal!

We have used our pass at COE parks in California for forever ( well for at least 11 years).
Now that being said it may be that the park you mention may have had a separate entity ( county, state etc) managing the campground that for some reason previously didn't honor the pass
There are many COE campgrounds that are managed by another agency and do not honor the pass. Some do. We always ask before we go

Two items: It is park by park. Nationwide. Generally all parks in a "District" will have the same rules (but not reqiured) so you need to check with the park or recreation.gov when making the reservation.

The parks I stay at in SC DO accept it.

Page 2:
Bill has been introduced to up the one time fee to 80 bucks same as the America the Beautiful pass which is $80.00 for life for those not yet 62 years of age.

I do not have to worry about that since 2 days after my wife died (About 3 months and a week after I turned 62) I walked into the distric office and handed the young lady a $10.00 bill and my Driver's license.. She quickly figured out what I wanted and I GOT MINE.

Vsheetz the park near Waco was Midway. They also had some nice back in spots on Lake with 30 amp. If going in prime season look into reserving now.

Retirement

We made it. We are retiring at the end of this month and plan on being on the road and our 33AA Allegro RED. This is our first journey and we are planning a route from San Diego to Port Clinton, Ohio. Hope to be in Ohio around the second week of May.
Any suggestions and or advice would be greatly appreciated.

You need to make your own post for Suggestions from San Diego to Ohio in your subject line then you'll get some answers. Also need your planned route through what states and your interests.

This post is about Corp of Engineers and Senior Passes.
