California 58 through Bakersfield

When I passed through Bakersfield in October , road work was underway on the 58 ; to avoid using the section of the 99 to proceed to I-5; several onramps were closed and traffic was snarled .

Has anyone travelled through this month and give an update on possible completion ?

TIA.

58/99 interchange has been under construction for 15 years at least and there is new work on 99 just north of that interchange that is adding to the slow downs.

Are you coming from someplace specific? Hwy 223 seems to be an easy 2-lane drive from Tejon Ranch area to I-5

Thanks for the up date , I had hoped there was progress being made .

223 through Arvin is my preferred route to the I-5 .... BUT; at the moment with all the rain the area has had ,I'm concerned about the downhill grade from the 58 past the cemetery , as I've travelled down in other years with much less rain and seen soil erosion on the high side of the road and now with the rain in the past month possible overflow from the reservoirs at the bottom of the grade.

We went 58/99 Barstow to Fresno on the 18th and saw no issues with that route. The water was high through the Tulare area but not on the highway. I. Did check the cal dot website for road conditions first.

Amen.

They'll be done with it as soon as they are done with the Bullet Train.

Well; I'll be traveling tomorrow or Monday over the 58 to the I-5 , then the rest of the 1660 miles home .

I see fresh snow on some of my route ...weeee!

Stay safe out there , I'll report when I have good internet .

Traveled through the Siskiyou summit yesterday, heavy snow at the top then intermittent snow and rain all the way to Roseburg!

Thanks for the update ; a friend from Roseville CA. reported hail when he arrived home ; from here in Parker AZ , Thursday night .

I'll just have to take the weather as it comes ; winter tires on all corners of the coach , so I guess I'm as ready as I'll ever be .
Got through 8" of snow on the I-15 two days after I bought it with summer tread .
Propane tank full , I keep the fuel tank topped up and have five days of food on board . I'll hunker down if I have to.
