I84 east to Biggs junction. 97 south is an instering drive across the Columbia plateau.
35,26 means you will have to climb out of the Columbia to meet 26 up on MtHood. I84 to 97 you only have to climb up out of the river basin.

97 out of Biggs is nothing to avoid especially with the OP's motorhome.

Think SOUTH Bob. 97 north takes you to WA. OP wants to go to Bend. South is a short climb out of the gorge with pretty flat trip south from there.

Agree with this. Stop at the cow canyon rest area and check yer brakes before dropping down the hill. Take it from a guy who lived in Madras, there ain't nothing there to see, so just keep going.

OK, Google maps show 35/26/97 to be 163 miles......I-84 up to 97 at Biggs, to Bend, 196 miles. Is the 33 extra miles through Biggs significantly an easier trip to justify the extra miles? thanks to all who have contributed.
