Cedar Key FL to Fort Myers to Marathon Key

Leaving in a week for Cedar Key FL from the Atlanta GA area and then heading to Fort Myers and then on to Marathon in the Keys. Looks like a lot of toll roads I will be on and already got my Sunpass transponder. Anything I should be aware of on the Florida toll roads? Will be towing car so I will have 4 axles and have a 38' class A.

The west coast of Florida is not as riddled with toll roads as the center and southeast coast. I75 is a pretty good ride to Fort Myers. From there, I always take US41 across the state instead of the I75 Alligator Alley toll road. Us41 is 2 lane but not heavily traveled. The Casino at the intersection of 41 and 997 is a good overnight stop.

Riight, from Cedar Key to Ft. Myers no tolls. From Cedar Key take 24 to 19/98, follow 98 into Brooksville which will feed you into I75. Straight shot to Ft. Myers with no tolls. Leaving Ft. Myers, back to I75, then as the prior post says, either stay on I 75 at exit 101 and pay the toll. ( I think it's $12 with a tag axle coach pulling a toad) or take exit 101 and head to US 41-- much more scenic that way. When you get to 997 ( Krome Ave) head south to Florida City ( there is some agricultural traffic on this road) There you will pick up US 1 to the keys. Just got back from there yesterday.

I agree with Pan and Steve; US 41 is a scenic lightly traveled 2-lane highway, which is smooth driving all the way. There are some CG's along the way if you wish to spent the night. If your preference is getting to the Keys faster, pay the toll and drive I 75.
