If the weather is bad or forecast to be, drop S as quick as you can. You might consider moving your leave date to adjust for the weather. I-35 or other interstate to OK city, Fort Worth, I-20 towards New Mexico. I-10 through El Paso ( there is a bypass around the east side of El Paso, that is at least 6% up and down. I prefer it over going through El Paso). Then I-10 to Phx then I-17 to Cordes Junction & 69 to Prescott.
The southern route is much longer.
Re:Northern route: Amarillo, Albuquerque - Flagstaff roads can get ice, snow and wind.
I rely on a NOAA radio. Weather 24/7 for surround area of your location. There are some dead areas.
Good Luck !!

Thanks for the suggestion, it looks like going the northern route through Amarillo, Albuquerque - Flagstaff is 26 hours 1,786 miles but could be bad to travel this time of year, going via OK city, Fort Worth, I-20 towards New Mexico. I-10 through El Paso then I-10 to Phx then I-17 to Cordes Junction & 69 to Prescott is 34 hours 2,163 miles but is still somewhat north and probably colder till OK city. As many have suggested I'm going to go South as fast as possible and then West it's 35 hours 2,220 miles via Interstate 55, 40, 30, 20, 10, 17, 69 this route is the longest but it's almost the same time and distance as going via OK city, Fort Worth, I-20 towards New Mexico I-10 through El Paso but it looks like warmer weather and less chance of bad weather with stops in Matthews MO, Sulphur Springs TX, Midland TX, Las Cruces NM, Eloy AZ, Prescott AZ.
Sounds like with my rv i should avoid the eastern El Paso bypass that is at least 6% up and down, thank you for that information.

Here is an example of the weather in West Texas area. We just arrived in Fort Stockton today a little after 3pm. The weather report coming out of Midland is predicting 1-2" of snow for Ft Stockton, and more south. Well it also showed the chance of 1-3" toward Van Horne area with maybe more further west. So during your travels make sure you DO keep an eye on the weather.

UPDATE ON WEATHER:
Well I got up around 6 am and it was starting to spit some rain/snow mix. By the time we left at around 9 am, after waiting for the heavy snow to pass, we had snow & cold temps (around 31). We had to travel about 45-50 miles west to get out of the snow/rain mix. We did see snow sticking to the ground during the trip west toward Van Horne.
Pulled into Anthony NM and it was around 57 degrees/sunny.
