Cleveland to Myrtle Beach

Hello ,
We are new to RV ing, and due to a large family we jumped right in and purchased a 47 ft ( with hitch) fifth wheel. It so fun and we love it but have only taken it on the road 2x for very short trips. We are planning to take the family to Myrtle Beach in the beginning of May. We are all so excited but just wondering now if the drive thru the mountains will be to difficult for inexperienced drivers? Please lmk any tips , ideas or suggestions or ways to maybe avoid any scary areas. Also we did a trip tik on AAA and plan to stop every 3 hours to refuel. How do we find out in advance if these gas stations are big rig friendly? Also has anyone traveled with pets IN their fifthwheel while driving? We have 2 dogs, can they be in a cage that is secured down? If so how do you control the temperature in the trailer for them? Also any one taken the same route and have a good midway campground to stop overnight? I think near Wyethville WV is midway.
Thanks so much for any help!

We have always stayed at Fort Chiswell RV Park. Plenty of space when we drove an MDT and 38' 5th.

Going on Google maps is about the only way to determine is a gas station is configured for an RV. FlyingJ and Pilot do have RV lanes. You can look on their website or download their app and filter the truck stops that have rv lanes. Get the RV car, gives you a little discount at the pump.

I assume you are driving a gasser. If a diesel just go to the truck stops and pull in with the trucks. Make sure you pull up before you go in to pay so the next truck can start fueling.

In many states you can not have ANY passengers in a trailer for safety reasons. I would think if you have them in a cage it would be much safer, but maybe someone else can enlighten as to the issue.

When you decide when you will be in Myrtle Beach area, make sure you post along the way. We are in Myrtle Beach the first half of May then to N.Carolina.
