Colorado Springs to Lordsburg, NM (SW NM)

First time hauling an RV trailer 5000 lbs on the back on my suburban.

How hard would this drive be? It seems there is one mountain pass (Raton Pass). I think there might be alt. routes too.

Nothing to worry about on that trip.

Option 1: I-25 from the Springs to Las Cruces then I-10 to Lordsburg

Option 2: I-25 from the Springs to Hatch, NM then NM 26 to Demming and I-10 on to Lordsburg.

I driven all those segments many times with various RVs. Used to live in Las Cruces, now live in Santa Fe.

Enjoy the adventures and be safe...

Raton Pass is just fine. Southbound: It's 6% downhill for 1.5 mi followed by 1/2 mile of nearly flat road. Then there is another mile of 5-6% and 1 mile of 1-3% followed by 1 miles of 5-6%.

Since it's your first trip I'd keep it as simple as possible and take 25 to 10. Enjoy the Journey!

25 south, take a right at Hatch as mentioned previously. Raton is no big deal.
