Convert to Apple Maps

I love the Trip Wizard for creating a trip, but when I go to my iphone to begin the trip I like using Apple maps on the iphone for navigation. For the life of me I cannot figure out how to start the trip in apple maps v google.

Please give me suggestions.

Thank you,

First, be aware that if you use Apple or Google Maps you will not have RV
Safe routing nor will you match your trip as both will recalculate the trip based on their algorithms.

To access either of these tap Allow Changes rather the Match Route. The tap Use Other Map Provider, Continue and select the map provider of your choice.

RV Safe routing will only be implemented when using the maps we provide and selecting Match Route.

I build routes in RVTW and then enter the start/destination in Google Maps and add waypoints until the route matches RVTW. Export to GPS is terrible for RVTW, at least to Google Maps.

You could just use the RVLife app on your phone. If you log into the app then your RVTW routes are there and you can use the app's GPS with your saved trip

I always use RVTW to PLAN trips. NEVER to route me. My RV GPS does that. I just enter the next destination the evening before the travel day and follow those directions.

If I were using Apple Maps (or Google Maps) I would do the same. The evening before I would just let the maps app route me. Trying to preload all that is, for me, a waste of time since I can do it the night before.

Personally I would NEVER rely on either A-Maps or G-Maps for directing me when I pull my RV. Those maps always assume you are in a car or truck with no special considerations for weight, height, width, road that don't allow RVs, etc.

OH - and even with the RV GPS I inspect the route to be sure it is the one I want, doesn't have any silly or wrong turns, height restrictions (even tho the GPS is suppose to do that) and to bet familiar with the route.

Safe routing…

Add Waze (owned by Google) to that list. I learned that the hard way this past June. The routes suggested by Apple Maps and Google Maps would have been fine to take. The Waze route required 4WD. I wouldn’t recommend using the Waze app unless you’re already familiar with the area.

Exactly my process too.

I use RVTW to plan my trip, then use RV Life for turn by turn directions. Both apps are owned by the same company and sync up. I can add to or modify my trip in RVTW and it syncs very quickly in RV Life.

A-Maps got me into a real bind leading me down a road that had a Train Track bridge over it that was only 12ft high. My RV, being 13' 6" would have made a big mess but for the sign about a quarter mile out warning me of the low overpass ahead. Luckily I was able to use a business drive to back into and get turned around. Lesson learned. I now use my Garmin RV GPS for directions and DW sometimes looks at A-Maps for traffic info but never for navigation as the Garmin knows my length, height and weight and it plots the route accordingly. A-Maps and G-Maps are great tools if only they had some way to input the critical bug rig data they would be unbeatable.
