CoPilot GPS Question
I've downloaded the trial version of CoPilot, mainly because I want to use it as another tool to avoid low clearance routes. It seems to handle that task fine and will choose a route that gets you around any such obstacles.
Sometimes though, I know all GPS units will occasionally select a route that seems inconvenient, so there are times I will deviate when I know another way to be better. When it comes to low clearance bridges through, you don't really know whether the route the GPS selected was just a typical GPS snafu or whether it's because there's a low clearance bridge on what would seem to be the more logical route.
My question is, in a case like this when you have deviated from the programmed route, will CoPilot give you an alarm if you are driving toward a low clearance bridge?

Yes CoPilot will warn you. In fact, it will often stop routing you because of the route clearance issue.

I'm pretty sure that any alternate routes offered by Co-Pilot consider the criteria you've supplied and avoid things such as low clearance, weight restrictions, etc.
If you take a different route, I'm not sure. I'd try forcing Co-Pilot to take you on your preferred route by using intermediate stops. If it won't route you on those roads, there might be an issue with the route.
By the way, you should always double check questionable routes with another source like a Trucker's Atlas or AllStays, which has low clearance and steep grades in it's database.

Ok, thanks for the responses guys.
Yes, I check routes with a trucker's road atlas too. My "new" Dolphin is 12'6", which is taller than I'm used to, so I want to make sure I have a couple ways to verify... plus something to alert me in case I screw up or hit a detour due to road construction, etc.
