Current condition of I-10

We will be leaving AZ heading towards Tallahassee, FL with a stop in Houston to visit friends. We know to take I-12 around New Orleans. Anything special that we should be aware of...road construction, horrible pavement, city traffic to avoid at specific time of day?

I’m close to Lafayette Louisiana and travel it everyday. There is some construction east of Lafayette but nothing to detour for. Traffic flows good through it. Blow your horn when you come through

we traveled 10/12WB between I-55 and Phoenix in Jan/Feb.

I–12W was a good road till it meets up with I-10W. the EB side is likely the same.
I-10W between I-12 and a bit past Beaumont, TX was reportedly horrible, especially thru the swamp. reports were the further west you got the worse the road became. there was major road work being done on a bridge that had traffic backed up. suggest you browse the LA roads web page. not wanting to deal with that we took US 190 between Baton Rouge and the TX border. that's a 4-lane road most of the way. WB between I-110 and I-49 was almost as bad as I-10 in places. west of 49 it was a much better road.

I-10W from where it meets US190 to west of Beaumont was under construction. narrow, single file lanes. and going thru Houston is always a character builder. we go thru on sundays between 9-2.

10 between Houston and TX SR1604 near San Antonio was actually not bad. we usually avoid SA traffic by taking SR1604 around the north side of the city. 1604 was under major construction for the first 10-11 miles with some single lane traffic. I-10 west of 1604 until near the Boerne exit was also under construction again with single lanes.

10 west thru the rest of TX thru NM and into AZ was generally good. thru Tucson until US60 junction was bad in spots.

safe trip.
