Arrow Current travel conditions through Louisiana?

Planning to travel from East Texas through Louisiana to the Florida panhandle in the next 30 days. In light of recent Hurricane Irma, is there a better choice between I-20 Eastbound and I-10 Eastbound? Thanks in advance.

First off, Welcome to IRV2!

My personal choice would be I20. The part of I10 across the swamps in Louisiana east of Lake Charles is one of the roughest roads I've ever been on. Its been a number of years since we went that way, but I would have sworn we were driving down a staircase.

I don't know your starting point, but you could consider crossing the middle of Louisiana perhaps through Alexandria to Natchez, Ms. LA28 and US 84 are both generally good roads with 55-65 mph speed limit, US 98 is also mostly good in Mississippi.

I 20 thru Shreveport is terrible, big potholes and pavement cracks. It was so rough, even the 18 wheelers were poking along at 40 mph dodging the holes. I'm still surprised the A C units stayed on our MH roof. Worst roads we encountered to on our trip to Yellowstone.

Construction on I 10in Texas is terrible. Louisiana roads are like most of the country, terrible. I will be traveling from New Orleans to Houston on 10/23. I don't have much choice but 10.
