Denver to Yellowstone

We are driving a 42ft motorhome towing a car. What is best route to Yellowstone? We are currently traveling on I-25.
Thanks.

- stay on 25 until Casper
- get on 26/20 West to Shoshone
- make a right in Shoshone to stay on 20 to Thermopolis
- In Thermopolis, follow signs for 120 to Cody
- In Cody, follow signs for 14 West to get to East Entrance of the park

I've tried ALL the ways in and out of Yellowstone and this, by far, has the least number of mountains. You will climb to Sylan Pass via the East entrance but its not too bad (although we did hit snow up there on July 8th one year...)

Heres how we'd go - we love the Mountains and tend to go out of our way to be in them and be able to see the sights we have driven so far to enjoy.

Map - https://binged.it/2wZ4rTO

Still gets you to Wind River Canyon and Cody - just gets you off the I's and into the Mountains.

Drive this in my 42' Coach - starts by swinging off I 25 to Golden then taking RT 6 out to Idaho Springs, following Clear Creek the whole way - Beautiful Drive - then I 70 west to RT 40 over Berthoud Pass, Great road and even better scenery - through Winter Park - Just past the turnoff to Granby/RT34 you will find RT 125 - another great drive into the Colorado Mountains - then you will just keep heading North to Shoshoni - through the Wind River Canyon to Thermopolis and on to Cody.

Depending on how you drive - there a numerous opportunities to find Camp Grounds at the various Reservoirs along the way.

Love this drive.

Now to leave - South out of YNP to the Tetons then Jackson to Alpine - catch Flaming Gorge the Dino NM before possibly catching More of Colorado - Maroon Bells - Marble - Black Canyon - Crystal Mill................

But that is a whole nother story/trip,

Hope this gives you an option to staying on I 25 as that road beats me to Pieces, so I tend to get off it as soon as I can.

Best of Luck,
