Denver to Yosemite- which way?

After a brief stop in Colorado Springs in a few weeks, we will be heading toward the Tetons and Yellowstone in our motorhome. Any suggestions on which route to take?

I-25 north to Cheyenne, then NW on Hwy 287?
or
I-70 west, then north?
or
something else?

We are not in a hurry.

Near Cripple Creek there is a gold mine. Mollie Katherine I think. They take you down a 1000' shaft and tour the gold mine. Real neat tour.

Not directly.

Give some thought to highway 50. Depends on the weather but it is a great road. Exceptional scenery. Have done it twice and had a great experience each time. Probably will do it again this coming July.

Where is highway 50 between Denver and Yosemite? Can't find it on the map...

Tim,
I-70 to Grand Junction. I-70 and 50 are the same at that point. Then follow 50 all the way to Fallon, NV. 50 then goes to Carson City and that puts you just above Yosemite. No major hills either up or down.
