Destin, FL to Livingston, LA

RV Trip wizard has me exiting I-10 and crossing Mobile River further north which appears to be the 'Truck route'.

Garmin 780 RV GPS has me staying on I-10 crossing the Mobil River.

The difference is about 40+ miles.

Any reason I can't stay on I-10W?

according to my map Livingston LA is actually off I-12. RVTW is probably diverting you to I-12 at Slidell which is where I-10 heads to N'awlins and I-12 continues west. I-12 is a very good road...much better than 10 thru LA.

No. It is sending me north off of I-10 to another bridge over the river then back down onto I-10. I can stay on I-10W and pick up I-12W without going north on 98N Truck to I-165 to I-65 then back to I-10 before I-12 starts.

Google Maps says to take I-10 to I-12 at Slidell, LA. 280 miles (We've done this a few times)

Staying on I-10 takes you into New Orleans which you don't want.

Looks like there is a tunnel just before/near Mobile on I-10. Looks like that was why its rerouting me. Anyone driven a class A RV through that tunnel with no issues?

we did a few years back. drove the length of I-10 from I-75 in FL to Phoenix (with the exception of the length between the ends of I-12. we're 54' long with the toad and 12'6" high. no issues in the tunnel and no warnings to close LP tank.

you might check he LA DOT website to see if the tunnel or road is under construction. maybe there are new tunnel restrictions. got to be a reason you were detoured.

Propane is normally not allowed in tunnels. That is why you are being rerouted.

I live in Slidell, LA and on Sunday 8/1/21 I drove from Orange Beach, Alabama back to Slidell in a 45 foot Class A with a toad. Stay on I-10 W till just after entering Louisiana from Mississippi. At the junction stay right on I-12 W heading towards Baton Rouge. By the way I have driven my Class A through the Mobile Tunnel several times in the last mouth or two without any concerns or trouble except for traffic issues, so be prepared to to sit in slow moving traffic till you exit the tunnel. Should you need more information about the route please feel free to PM me. Safe Travels!

The tunnel on I-10 is in Alabama, so check with their DOT equivalent. It has been 12 years since I went through the Mobile tunnel, never with anymore than a passenger vehicle, so can't comment on the tunnel and an RV. Imagine traffic has not gotten any better.

The I-10 tunnel is no problem. Beware that there's a sharp left turn at the tunnel exit. The older US-98 tunnel is NO GO.

We went through on a Sunday afternoon and it was a pleasant traffic-free drive.

I'm all electric. No propane on board.
