Douglas WY to Gillette WY on rte 59

Hope this is the right forum... it seemed most apt.

We're going north on I-25 to I-90E and it looks like we can take a shortcut on rte 59 between Douglas, WY and Gillette, WY. We're looking for recommendations or warnings about taking a motorhome over this route.

The road is Partial four lane and partial two lane. Traffic can be heavy at shift change along with lots of 18 wheelers. I would go the extra and stay on the interstate

You can cut off even more miles by taking US 18 and SD 79 from south of Douglas to near Rapid City, SD

I have travelled this route in our motorhome pulling a toad ... there is about 15 miles of 2 lane road near Hot Springs that requires some attention ... but most of this route is cruising ...
