I a few months I will be going out west, it looks like Dallas to Albuquerque is a big climb in elevation. Does anyone have any advice, or general information about that climb in a motor coach?

First it's all Interstate Hwy. (unless you vary from that)

And even if you take a more direct two lane route none of the hills are steep. (at least in relation to the rockies through Clolo. or the Calif Mtns, or many other places.)

Second it's a very gradual climb for the most part and nothing to worry about.

Motorhomes do it hundreds if not thousands of times a day.

I assume you're looking at going from DFW to Wichita Falls and through Amarillo to ABQ.

We made the drive a week ago and have made it probably 100 times and it's never been an issue. It's a slow steady climb you most likely won't notice.

It is an easy drive by any of the routes and I think I've done them all by now. I prefer going west on I-20 and then though Lubbock and then clines corners and north to I-40. If you do this route use the truck bypass for both Lubbock and Roswell.

Albuquerque is only 5,000 feet, the climbs start west and north of there.

If you select the northern route, there is a great fuel stop just west of the NM/TX state line on the north side of I-40.

I've made that run one time. The climb was no problem but the winds were viscous. On the upside there are RV parks near and RV parking at the Big Texan steak house.

Going that direction you can’t tell if it’s uphill or just more west Texas wind!

You lost me, Clines Corner is on I40. Why would you be anywhere near Roswell?

My bad, you would not likely go to Roswell on this trip. I do pass through Roswell when going to other Texas destinations and fingers got ahead of brain this time.

I stopped at the UFO Museum one time, worth perhaps 30 minutes. IMO- it was lame. Otherwise I take the truck bypass around town. There is a Walmart Supercenter if you can use that.

When we went from Denton to Gallup last year we went through Mule Shoe Tx. I don’t remember the highway number, but Mule Shoe has a good overnight free lot with full hookups to dump and refill. There was a good diner around the corner.
Just east of Roswell we stopped for a few days at Bottomless Lakes State Park. It is nice with plenty to explore and a pretty nice beach. There is a camp or you can boondock in there. Roswell is about 12 mi west and is worth a stop.
We found a great Mexican bakery about 1 block south of the alien museum. It would be worth a stop to go to the bakery!
