I was wondering if anybody knew of any detours that we may have to take on our way down. We don't want to get lost taking detours without knowing where we are going. I would greatly appreciate any help with this issue.

Nelson and Daisy, WELCOME to iRV2!!

Someone will be along with some good routing information for you....

Enjoy the site!!

In your profile there is an area to add a "signature" to each of your posts....I would recommend adding what type of rig you have,as sometimes an answer may depend on what you're driving....

N and D, many will opt for I 95. Having lived in MA for 34+ years and treavelled to FL several times we quickly decided that no part of 95 was our cup of tea. We preferred MA Pike to Sturbridge, I-84 all the way to Scranton, PA, I-81 through PA, MD, WV, VA and into TN. Pick up I-40 north of Knoxville and merge onto I-75 at Knoxville, take the beltway (475 0r 875) around Knoxville and it is very well marked, rejoin I-75 west of Knoxville and follow it all the way to Tampa where you catch I-4 to Orlando.

I am the first to admit that this route is probably 150-200 miles longer than 95. However, for an additional 3-4 hours driving time we can arrive with our sanity as 95 is the preferred north-south route of the truckers.

You will find fuel prices favor VA and GA and there are ample Flying J's, Petro, Pilot, etc. on either route.

Good luck and safe travels however you choose to go, Ken Roberts, '04 DSDP....

One FL way to save some miles and time is to take the FL Turnpike at Wildwood off I75 to the first exit (US 27) then S to US 192 East to Disney and as you approach the parking booths stay as far right as you can (farthest right is Disney Vehicles Only) because you have to make a right right after the booth to get to Ft Wilderness. They will not charge a parking fee but have your confirmation ready to show if asked.

Nelson & Daisy,

I see you are asking about detours on your route south, but you don't mention your planned route. As you can see, there are several different routes to take. If you've decided how you are going let us know. There should be a lot of members heading north right now who can give you some up to date road information.

We returned a few days ago.
Going down we left central NH around 2:30pm on a Saturday and went via 95, Mass Pike, 84, 91, 95, Tappanzee Bridge, Garden State Parkway, New Jersey Turnpike, across the Del-Mem Bridge and stopped at the Flying J just into MD. Sunday morning continued on 95 thru Baltimore (Key Bridge) and D.C. then it's basically 95 all the way to I4 in FL. No detours and no active construction zones. Did Balt-DC only because it was a weekend.
Coming back we left on a Monday AM took same route until Richmond, VA at which time we avoided DC - Balt by taking 301 to the Del-Mem Bridge. No detours and a few very minor delays from construction.
