We are about to head back from Seattle to south Georgia in Class A. We came over on I-90. We are thinking about driving US 2 from Seattle to Spokane on the way back. Can anyone give advice on the pros and cons, especially regarding grades, climbs, curves, white knuckle stretches?

Hwy 2 over Stevens pass is fine in the summer. Don't expect to break any speed limits though. Take your time and enjoy the scenery. Confluence State Park in Wenatchee would be a nice first night stay. Safe travels.

We did it a few years ago and don't remember any "white Knuckle" areas. 2 lane yes and it does curve through the mountains ( Beautiful scenery). There are several passing lanes on the grades as I remember it. It is slower of course but we almost always prefer US highways and the towns they go through. We made a full day of the Seattle To Spokane trip on our Trip across the country on US 2 Keep in mind, "US" highways are major roadways ( truck traffic) so they are designed for Large vehicles.

Why stop at Spokane? US2 is a great alternative cross country.

I agree with 450Don. But, you will find one step climb just before the pass but that section is four lane. Other than that, there is some bridge construction going on before the summit so expect some delays. It is a scenic and safe drive.

Welcome to the forum!!

We've done it a few times all the way to Michigan with our 40' MH. You have the same and you won't have any issues. It sure beats an interstate!!

(By the way, you might want to make a Signature Line for your posts. It helps others to know what your RV is when replying)

Thanks! I think we will try this. Michigan will be a good jumping off point for us headed back home to south Georgia.

I think you'll like the route.

Plan a stop at Fort Peck Corp of Engineer park in eastern Montana - big sites and a nice resting spot after crossing BIG Montana. Best to make your previous stop around Glacier Nat'l Park as parks aren't plentiful until Fort Peck.

Definitely plan a stop around the Mackinac Bridge of the Upper and Lower parts of Michigan.

Petosky or Traverse City/Empire areas are gorgeous for another stop. Take in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore at Empire..... some nice RV resorts in the area.

Stop in Leavenworth for a trip back to Germany. When you get to Coulee City you are less than 30 miles to Grand Coulee Dam, they have a Great visitors center.

Reardon has a 30 MPH speed limit and they enforce it.
