It's better but still expect warm temps in AZ but not as HOT as it is now. October is perfect.

For Moab, check online for schedule of activities if going in spring. Unless you're participating in the various rallies, such as Jeep Jamboree, I'd not be there at that time. Extremely crowded. I think there's one around Easter.

Since you'll be retired add 30 more days to that big trip!! August, September, October would be good months.... a little less crowds and good temps. Head north first and work your way back south. Glacier Nat'l Park's Going to the Sun Rd. and Crater Lake Nat'l Park will be unthawed by then!
