Franklin, NC to Chattanooga

Traveling in a Class A motorhome going west from Franklin, NC to Chattanooga; is Hwy 64 to Hwy 74 to I-75 a good route? I know I can go up to I-40 and over, but I would prefer a scenic route if it is practical in the MH.
Anyone ever go this route?
Thanks,

Traveled that route many times. You should have no issues other than traffic can be heavy along the Ocoee River with all the river rafters.

There are also a couple of sharp curves you need to be aware of (plenty of signs) as it can get very tight if you meet another large vehicle especially a semi truck and trailer.

I've pulled a 53ft trailer through there many times.

Gorgeous scenery.

Thanks, looks like that is the route we will take. I remember the Ocoee River from about 50 years ago. I thought I could handle a canoe since I paddled the bayous of Louisiana; then someone invited me to go canoe the Ocoee River with them and I didn't know any better, so I did it. For me that river canoe trip was a matter of life or death, but I made it down without turning over on my first run. When I got to the end I had cramps in my hands so bad I had to pry my fingers off the paddles. Over the years I came to enjoy it, but the fear of that first run is embedded into my memory forever.
I had never seen mountains nor moving water at that time.
I appreciate the routing info.

Lol. Yeah the water there can be a little tricky if you've never done it. If it's been 50 years a lot has changed. They did the summer Olympics there when they were in Atlanta. Built a nice course.

Safe travels.

TripleGGG, we followed this route today and I'm glad I listened to your advice. That's a great scenic route and the road was very smooth for most of the trip. We did have quite a climb about 10 miles or so out from Franklin; think the sign said "Winding Stair Gap" at 3,800 feet. The traffic was not very bad today along the Ocoee River even though the water was running good and a good number of rafters and kayakers were on the water. It did bring back some good memories. I'm glad we took that route; we took our time and it was very pleasant.
Thanks,

Glad you enjoyed it. I lived in Hayesville and Murphy NC and Blairsville and Hiawassee GA for years. Actually owned the Ford Dealership in Hayesville at one time. So I know the area well. Ocoee is one of my favorite drives.

Yeah coming out of Franklin to Hayesville is a good climb. There is a campground at the top called Standing Indian with some great backroads for Jeeps or 4x4s. Some magnificent views.

Safe travels.
