Glamis to North Palm Springs

Will be heading to North Palm Springs from Glamis in the near term. Will it be best to go via 111 or 86 to go around the Salton Sea? My thought is go for the best scenery but if a road is really bad, that would not be my choice.

Thanks!

86 will be the quickest. Not the best quality road but it’s two lane in each direction. I haven’t taken the 111 in over a decade so I can’t attest to it though I believe it was 1 lane each direction. With the amount of agriculture in the area, you run risk of getting stuck behind a truck or tractor.

I'm actually heading to glamis tomorrow, but anyways, the 86 or the 111 are both fine. The 111 was re paved a few years back and is fairly nice now. However there is not much there as far as facilities. The 86 has much more along the way, gas stations, food, etc. And as phone service the entire, the 111, not so much. Either way works really, flip a coin...
