Grand Canyon

we are spending January & February near Phoenix. We have never been to the Grand Canyon. Looking for ideas about the weather, do I take the M.H. or do we just take the car and Motel it a night or two??
Thanks Don

Never been to the Grand canyon either. But I can tell you the KOA in Flagstaff is a good place to stay!

Consider setting up base camp in Williams, AZ and taking the train excursion up to the GC. Lots of fun! Just Google Trains or RV parks in Williams, AZ.

If you are use to driving in winter conditions with you RV--go for it. Snow in Flagstaff and the GC are common that time of year. Its quite a ways from Phoenix, but drove the toad to the GC several years ago--it had snowed the night before. We made some of the first tracks into park that morning.....sat by the fire at Hermit's Roost Cabin....sunny with broken cloud cover--the scenery along the canyon rim drive was magnificent... Will never forget the experience...

and seriously consider the helicopter tour and/or the donkey ride down into the canyon if they are still going !
Pictures can not come CLOSE to doing it justice

JMHO, - Take the Coach - Possibly make a little more of a trip out of it - why would you want to stay in a hotel? - anywhere within 600 miles, we will take the coach, so - your bed your Home and even all your Stuff.

I'd look at making a week or two of it - https://binged.it/2ylAkGM - Grand Canyon - then out on RT64, just different to see it as you head East - then Up to Page/Lake Powell/Antelope Canyon, catching Horseshoe Bend on the way - From there Monument Valley with the Clear Skies and the low light is just beautiful, Catching Mexican Hat and another Horseshoe Bend in, Utah - from there to Canyon de Chelly, possibly the guided tour of the Valley - Petrified Forest National Park before returning Home to Phoenix.

Might be more than you want - but with the cooler temps - Fewer People - IMHO the perfect Time to do a Little Canyon loop. Winter is our Favorite time to hang around in this part of the SouthWest

Will it be cool, sure but it's the desert, when the Sun is out it is warm, at night just turn on the heat and pull up the comforter. Bring a pair of Good Boots - layers of Fleece - Wind breaker - Hat and sunglasses - along with a good travel Camera.

You will not be disappointed, as it is just a beautiful area.

To see just the Grand Canyon and miss all the other highlights would just not be Fair,

Hope this helps - enjoy the Grand Canyon, and if you decide to some or all of the loop it will not disappoint.

Best of Luck,
