An observation I've seen, using Google Maps, is the travel time is somewhat dependant on the time of day and the day of week you seek the route. For example in Washington DC, I would expect the shortest times at 3 AM, Sunday morning. The longest travel time may occur at 4 PM on Friday afternoon. Google Maps takes into consideration current traffic issue (those yellow and red areas on the route path). GM adjusts the travel times, accordingly. I could easily see a large variation in travel time in the DC area, depending on time and day.

If you find yourself on I95 near Savannah, I suggest you may wish to take 84 down to U S 301 to that area as you are traveling after Christmas.

I apologize, I should've been more precise with the route. We are actually leaving from Worcester PA. I used Google maps and it must've added that extra time from there. It still sounds like going 81 is much better from all the post I've seen. We've taken 95 before (not knowing any differently) when we went down to South Carolina. It was not a good ride! So it looks like we would pick up 64 then go around Richmond on 288. Then from there, get on 95 to St Augustine. Thanks for responding.

Using 95 to Fla
95 to exit 373 in Georgia 200 to Callahan and 200 turns to 301 to Ocala then 75 to exit 301 rt98 to 50 to 41 to 52 to 19 to Port Richie

During this time of the year....I strongly caution you to check the weather before taking I-77, you will be up in the mountains, while it is a beautiful drive the weather can ruin all of that in a hurry.
I-95 isn't bad once you get past Fredericksburg VA it opens up and is pretty relaxing. Depending on the time of day with all of the new interchanges around DC its not that bad. 5-10 years ago....different story.

can you give me an idea of the prices of both campgrounds? we are heading that way after Christmas, and this would help us. Do you ever stay at rest stops for the night? if so where?

Take a look at the app RVparky it will give you campgrounds fuel food and Wal-Mart's for free over night.
