Savannah Georgia worth a stop?
Love historic, revolutionary, civil war. Love to do Washington DC then west to Chicago back up to Wisconsin.
Are outer banks Worth it? Wright brothers stuff? Kitty hawk.
Think we’re stopping in Charleston SC for a couple of days.
Suggestions on places to stay?
No easy way of driving around DC area.
Been to northern civil war sites, may do Gettysburg again.

As far as DC goes, park near the Metroplex stations and ride the subway into the National Mall attractions.

Yes, Charleston is definitely worth several days as it was the British HQ for their entire Southern campaign during the Revolution and the site of the initial battle of the Civil War. Take the self-guided walking tour of the historic district, a boat to Ft. Sumter where the Civil War began, and the bridge over to the WWII carrier Yorktown. We also enjoyed touring Middleton Place and Magnola Plantation, especially at this time of year when spring flowers and trees are blooming.

In Virginia there are, of course Jamestown, Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Monticello from the Colonial-Revolutionary era. Then there are most of the battlefields of the Civil War in the East from Manassas to the Peninsula Campaign, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, the Shenandoah Valley Campaigns and Cedar Creek, the Wilderness, the Seven Days battles, Richmond, Petersburg, and Appomattox. i have spent weeks just going to all those battlefields.

So, whatever time you spend will not be enough for all of the history just within 50 miles either side of I-95. Have a great time!

Savannah definitely worth A stop.
Charleston we stayed at the Mount Pleasant KOA and thought it was a very nice park. Be sure and take the tractor ride.

- Check out the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina.
- Mansions of America in Rhode Is.
- The Old Pirate's House Restaurant in Savanah GA.
- Anything Smithsonian in Washington DC.

Oh my gosh , stop in Charleston , an amazing place, visit the market, take a couple of carriage tours. Do more than one carriage tour ,each will take you thru different areas. Each tour going out takes a route determined by a lottery system. They do this to keep carriages in all areas of the city to eliminate congestion. AND, each tour guide has a unique presentation. ALL tour guides are certified and must pass tests to preform their jobs. And they are schooled every year to keep up their certification. Very smart folks.
If you are folks that do cruise ships there are 75 ships every year that go in and out of Charleston. Leave your RV, do a cruise come back and continue your trip. I guess you learned I love Charleston :>)

Bull Run regional park near Manasas is a good RV area. Close to Dullus & Air & Space Mus. Take the guided tour and then go back to anything of interest. Park not far from transportation into DC.

If you decide to do Charleston, you might try James Island County Park. IMHO the nicest CG in that area with probably the best access to downtown (historic) Charleston via Highway 30 (aka James Island Connector) to Calhoun Street to Meeting Street or to East Bay.
We’ve been up through the Outer Banks and they are beautiful with some of the largest sand dunes I’ve ever seen. Hopefully recent hurricanes left them alone. There are a couple of ferry rides that will accommodate most any RV but NC DOT has information online that you’d need to see. Timing is pretty important!
Further north, Jamestown and Jamestown Settlement are very interesting, as is Williamsburg, VA, especially if you are interested in Colonial Architecture.
I really enjoyed George Washington’s Mount Vernon. I came away with a real appreciation for his life.
Going up through DC, we’ve had better luck with the traffic by taking the loop around the West side. If you are interested in aviation history, that puts you on track to check out the Udvar-Hazy Center out near Dulles International Airport, just outside the DC loop. I was there a couple of years ago and they had one of the space shuttles on display and it was something to behold. Plus they have a SR-71 Blackbird (flew over 2500 mph) and the Enola Gay and a P-51 Mustang and Merlin engines and on and on. It is a very, very nice facility.
