Help navigating I - 10 from Florida to Houston

Due to Hurricane Sally and maybe the new hurricane, I am looking for options to get from Orlando to Houston driving starting tomorrow. Most of the campgrounds I had booked along the gulf coast are closed or dealing with a ton of water. I have also seen a couple sections of 10 closed today with several fuel stop areas having very long lines.

I’m thinking of doing non interstate routes north of 10 but it is hard to get information. I’m in a 5’er; about 62 feet total and 13.5 feet high.

Cut up to I-20 is one option, in AL. We have taken US 81, last year, all the way west to DFW. It's bumpy in spots but you can drive it.

You may want to keep an eye on weather driving to Houston. There is another Tropical Storm called "Beta" brewing in the Gulf, just off the coast of Brownsvile, TX. It is projected to move east then north, then back to the east. That will put it near Houston around Tuesday.

Projecting lots of rain! Houston floods real easy and quick!
Might be a good ideas to watch the national weather.
I would recommend heading to I-20 also. It may be a little farther out of the way, but I think you would have less problems.

I just made the trip from gulf shores to Houston Thursday. Once you get to Mobile Alabama you are ok. Gas will be an issue prior to that. Safe travels

Thanks for your help. We made it to Gulfport in the rain and ready to push to Houston tomorrow. Two 600 mile days in a row but worth it to miss the hurricane (if it happens). West Florida and Alabama are a mess with flooding, trees down along the interstate, debris, and unfortunately even animals on the roadway who probably got displaced.
