Highway 99 Vancouver to Whistler

Planning a trip this July and thinking about taking highway 99 from Vancover to Whistler. My wife says she has heard this is not a safe road, anyone with past experiences on this highway? Please advised me on your thoughts.:

Hwy-99, also know as the Sea-to-Sky Highway was known for its many accidents prior to its major upgrade back in 2005. The road is perfectly fine now, though not nearly as much fun as it used to be for motorcyclists.

I have driven it a number of times in our 43 ft DP with toad. Her fears are unfounded.

We drove it with our ACE 29.2 towing our Jeep in March 2016. We couldn't go much farther than Whistler because of Ice and snow!! Apparently the road was improved because of the winter olympics! It was a great but scarey ride!

forgot to add there were 16% grades.....not fun on snow!

Where are these 16% grades???

There is nothing close to a 16% grade between Vancouver and Whistler and even after that, between Pemberton and Lillooet, I believe the steepest grades are two 13% hills. I have also driven that portion of the road in our 43 ft DP w/toad and did not find it the least bit disconcerting.
