I visited Rainbow Park last week and just wanted to say that Highway 59 is the worst "paved" road I have ever driven on in Texas. I have been amazed since moving to Texas at how nice even the small county roads are in the "Hill Country" west of San Antonio where I now live but the Motorhome felt like it was going to jump clear off the ground in some of the spots on 59.
Unless I missed seeing them, there should be some signs saying to go way slower than the speed limit in some of the worst spots. It wasn't something that could be seen like pot holes, it was dips and jumps that weren't visible. Maybe I just need shocks but I felt like I was going to plow pavement with the front bumper.

Tough to decide which is worse, both are very bad. 59 get a huge amount of trucks and they really beat up the road. Thankfully, I10 is being repaved but not sure what the progress is. I think parts of the stretch between Beaumont and Lake Charles are done. I guess I'd consider that stretch the worst I've driven. Cattle shoots and lots of Texans in their dodge duelly's driving 90 mph. Not a lot of fun.

Well, if you don't like 59 S of Livingston, don't even head east on 10 out of Houston. You really won't like that road.... </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Thanks, I will try to avoid that one. I-10 West out of Houston heading back to San Antonio had too much wind but I guess that isn't the road's fault.
