Houston Texas Routing

What is the best route through Houston? We will be traveling west on I-10 to I-69 south. Any suggestions are appreciated! I haven’t to Houston in many years.

Take the Sam Houston tollway, beltway 8 around away from downtown. Lots of lanes. I don’t think there’s any construction on it. I-69 south will have some down by Rosenberg and south of it for 10(?) miles.

If you are coming from Louisiana and wanting to go South on I-69 (59) I would just suck it up and go from I-10 to I-69 (it could be stressful)

Just try and do in in the middle of the day. The worse part is going from I-10 to around Beltway 8

Longer way, (and possible less stressful) and maybe better is stay on I-10 through town and go south on West Beltway 8 (Toll Road) until you get to I-69 where you can go south.

Thank You. I haven’t been through Houston since 1996, I’m planning on going straight through, I’ve read too many horror stories about the toll road charges.

Steve, We took I 10 from Beaumont to El Paso about 3 weeks ago.
Went thru Houston around 11:30 am on a Tuesday and no slowdown until some construction around Katy. Pretty uneventful while towing the 5er.

Kinda weird, two in one evening. I just posted on another thread asking about driving through Houston.

I10 to 69 is fine if you hit Houston away from the going to work and quitting time hours. Coming from Beaumont, you can stay on 10 until it exits left onto 69.

It's longer mile wise but there are times when taking the 610 loop south and traveling it until it intersects with 69 seems the better way to go.

No offense, but I'm confused.

If you have already planned your route through Houston because in this case "toll charges" why did you post the question asking for best route through Houston?

Hit Houston mid morning or early afternoon and go straight through.

Take 610 south. Loop 8 will cost you $12 toll.

610 south will cost you an extra 11 miles and the west loop (Galleria) is usually REALLY slow.

Lived in Houston for decades-- just don't do it at rush hour. Go straight through or WAY around.

69S and 610 is under construction. If you pass thru in the middle of the night it might be clear. Daytime hours, pack your patients.

Avoid 610 at ALL costs. Super busy almost 24/7, and very narrow and congested lanes.

We always go I-10 West and exit left onto I-69 to go South for the winter. We go Saturday or Sunday when possible or non rush hours. We never have a problem and traffic is not bad
