Houston to Charlotte Route
Hello Fellow Travelers,
Any suggestions for a pleasant drive from Houston, TX to Charlotte, NC? We’re traveling in a Diplomat and towing an accord. I’m debating taking the gulf coast or up through Texarkana.
Thanks,
Mike

Up through Texarkana will be more pleasant but 2.5 hours longer than the quickest route.

Try making it to Natchez Miss, there you can take the Natchez Trace Parkway to I-20. It’s a nice smooth road thru pretty forest with a few interesting places to see.

That is a great idea, though if not in a hurry take the trace all the way to I-40 West of Nashville.

Thanks Everyone!
Great suggestions, we’ll be taking Natchez up to 40 through Tennessee. Looks beautiful. I’ll reply with road conditions when we arrive in Charlotte.
Thanks again,
Mike

Check with the website because some parts are under construction. When I went thru last spring it was ok between Natchez and I-20.

If you plan to overnight or stay a couple days in Natchez, I’d suggest River View RV Resort in Vidalia, LA just across the River from Natchez.
Stayed there twice over the last few years. A nice, quiet, clean park on the bank of the Mississippi River.
Our second stay there was a planned detour in route to Florida; overnighted there just so we could eat at Roux 66 a few miles south of Natchez….very highly recommended if you fancy great catfish & seafood.
Safe Travels,
