How to Bypass Phoenix AZ with a Fifth wheel?
I was going to look for camping NE of Phoenix, I had to cut out stops to my destination because my time to get to my destination has shrunk. I have been trying to figure out how to completely bypass Phoenix. The only route I can find is extremely long! I-10 down 85 to I8 then back to I-10 up to RT 60 . I'm trying to follow US-60 East to Illinois. It seems like there are no bypass close to the city limits that don't have road closures/construction. Any ideas how to get around that City without adding over 200 miles to the trip? And is safe with a large 5R in tow?

Which way into and out of Phx are you traveling. Maybe stay at different location. Might look at loops 101and 202. I’d suggest leaving after morning rush but still a crap shoot like any large city is. Grand ave into city then 10? Grand had overpasses put in not as many traffic lights as years ago.
Few years ago Goodyear to VA in Phx took about 30 minutes the following winter it took 60 minutes. This past winter we stayed at different location.
Good lick

We stayed in Phoenix a couple of weeks ago. The campground is just off I-17 north of I-10. We traveled north and south on 17 during non rush hours with no problem.

Sounds like you're coming in from CA. and headed East? Take the 202. It's nice and wide and in good shape. It will route you around the city center with it's narrow and crowded lanes. Traffic is pretty light on the West half, but if you avoid rush hour you should have no problems on the East half either. It will take you from I-10 right to 60. The construction closures on US 60 are only at night and weekends and they are between the 101 and the 202, you won't even be going on that stretch, and there is no construction on the 202.
If you're taking 60 all the way there is a wonderful RV park in Springerville, it's an old KOA that is now privately owned, very nice and reasonable https://casamalpaisrvpark.com/

Definitely the 202 or the 101 based on the way you want to go next. From Tucson headed to flagstaff we always take I 10 to 202 then hit the 101 all the way around back to I10. Love it and a lot less headache

I'd take 60 to 303 north to I-17 south to 101 to 202 east to Apache Jct.
I really don't like I-10.
The above aren't bad at all after 9am until 2 or 3pm

I would avoid US60 east bound out of Phoenix to Show Low pulling the fifth wheel. The Salt River Canyon east of Globe AZ is a pretty long steep grade down and out. Based on your location I would take the 303 over to I-17 and head North to Flagstaff and east on I-40 to Illinois.

from the map you posted it looks like you'll need to go through central phoenix. unless you really want to go way out of your way. do you need to actually be at the place you had the red circle on which is on US 60? or do you just want to get on US 60 at some place and then follow it east?
if the later is an option perhaps you could:
get to i-17 north the camp verde
AZ 260 east through payson to show low where it joins us 60.

Many ways to avoid I-10 through Phoenix. You are going to get traffic on all of them, especially at peak times. We like the 202 when going around, especially the newer southwest portion that completed the loop.
60 has some steep climbs and lots of curves. Pretty rough all the way to I-25, but a pretty drive.
I-17 to Flagstaff is a very long grade all the way. But once on I-40, it is good.
A lot of snowbirds take I-10 to NM for a non-eventful drive. Then take I-25 to I-40 or into TX to catch I-20, depending on your destination.
Good luck and have a safe trip.

I would take the 303 south to I-10. Head east for about 6-8 miles, take the 202 around to US 60 again. We have spent the last 3 winters at the end of the 303 and go on these routes allot while out there.
If you don't want I-10 after you get off of the 303, you can take Van Buren St. to the 202. It is a surface road, goes thru Goodyear, Tolleson and then intersects the 202. Only issues we had on Van Buren was traffic lights.
The 303 has allot less traffic, and the 202 has light traffic until you get to the east side of I-10 down at Wild Horse Pass.

any route will be good as long as you go before 6 in the morning. the roads are all clear that time of day. i love it, as i go thru there a couple of times a month.
time may be a little inconvenient, but a pleasant drive.

The southern portion of the 202 loop is easy. The northern part of the loop is busier. My brother lived in Chandler and is now in Mesa and I'll take 202 from I-10 (exit 138 I think) every time even if the navigation is telling me to Go I-10 to I-17 back to to 10/60
