BTW, anyone transiting I 10 on the west side of Houston, there is a gas price war going on in Katy. Texas.

Buc-ee's gasoline $1.85. diesel $2.20

Yes, suspect this is date sensitive, but some will get an early Christmas present.

I10 through Houston isn't bad, as long as you don't hit it at work commute times. There is always traffic but it usually speeds through fairly quickly during the off times.

Highway 225 is sometimes busy with all the refineries along side of it. 146 flows good most of the time but sometimes gets crowded where it narrows down to 4 lanes north of Baytown. There are also a few stoplights along the way. The Sam Houston Tollway would be a good choice if you have the EZ Tag.

Best to get to Lajitas and stay at Maverick Ranch. 118 to Ft Davis, Alpine, Terlingua is easy. Then do a day trip up 170 toward Presidio. There's a lot to see and it would be difficult to stop in a MH towing. You have to check out Closed Canyon.

My family camped up and down the river from Big Bend to Presidio a couple times a year, parents, grand parents, aunts and uncles. It was just open land before it was a state park. It was the highlight of my years growing up.

If I remember it's 15% and there are 10mph curves on the road to Presidio. Great day trip for lunch, not a great road trip in the RV. Stay in Lajitas or Study Butte/Terlingua or if you can in the park.
