I-20 thru Dallas area
I will be travelling East to Florida in Nov, and am looking at alternatives to I-10 thru Texas and LA. Would appreciate any inputs on travelling thru Dallas area in Class A with tow. Or, is there another way?

If you are coming in from the West on I-20 just stay on it along the bottom of the area. Look at Google Maps.

When you head out on I-20 in the DFW area, be sure to check out the construction areas along your route. They change daily.

I-20 is great, Just try to avoid between 6a-9a and 4p-7p if possible.

We have a class A and a truck we tow. We live a little NW of Fort Worth and travel to Louisiana several times a year. Every single time we go we drop all the way down on 35W to I-20 then turn east.
I-20 is the lesser of the evils going thru DFW. It's also a gajillion times better than Houston and I-10 through Louisiana.
Like has been said timing is everything. Going through from about 10:00AM to 3:00PM is best if at all possible.
I wouldn't suggest getting fuel in the Metroplex as getting off and back on would be a hassle. If you're a TSD member there is a good Petro in Weatherford and a good TA in Terrell.

Travelled through Dallas Fortworth I-20 a couple of summers ago with our travel trailer on tow. Bad idea. There was so much construction that GPS was worthless. We got off to try and re-orient ourselves. Another bad idea. If there are other route recommendations I would take them.

While that may have been true a few years ago it's not correct currently. Getting from one end of DFW to the other has been and will be a challenge.
In 2016 there were just over 7 million people here. I would guess today there might be close to 8 million people here, the growth here is astonishing.
There is not a "great" way to get through DFW, but now I-20 is what I call the lesser of the evils. Mostly it's all about timing, it's 7:00 on a Saturday morning and most likely is a breeze getting from one end to the other. Last night a 5:01 everything was a parking lot because of rush hour.
The alternative is I-10. Good luck with that, right now.

Agree with DKRITTER advice. After DFW we take 20 east to Jackson, Ms, then south on 49 to I-10in Gulfport, then I-10 east into Fla. Been running this route for years now and although there is some rough patches I believe it is better than I-10 through Baton Rouge. Good Luck

Without knowing your origin point it is hard to suggest alternatives.

Avoid the TA in Terrell. I just did $2000 damage to the front end of my coach last weekend on a 12" deep pothole that went all the way across the truck exit. The nose bottomed out and messed up some fiberglass. I could see it and tried to go extremely slow but when the front wheel dropped the nose hit the other side. There was no other way out at the time.

Took I-20 through Dallas on a Sunday morning around 9 am.
Thought the freeway was closed...hardly any traffic at all.

Last week traveled on I-20 from Fort Worth to east of Dallas. Very little construction and not very crowded if you avoid rush hours. A smooth part of the trip in a Class C with a toad.

Sorry to hear that, we were in there twice in February on our way to Louisiana and then again on the way back and had no issues. I wonder if that happened when that big freeze and ice storm happened.

That's a really good point Isaac! More information is better.
The assumption was made that they were coming from say Abilene through DFW and eastward to FL. Hopefully that is correct.
If it's Amarillo that's a whole other story.
