I 25 Denver

Is I 25 thru Denver still under construction with lanes squeezed down and concrete walls on both sides?

I-25 through the down town area of Denver has always been a mess and now must be MUCH worse. No real work around.

Always a PITA - don't think they ever will finish working on it. Where are you headed - there are many other ways around Denver - if not Timing is helpful.

Still working on I-25? Last time I went through Denver in 2017 it was a mess. On the return trip I took the 470 toll road. Well worth the almost $6 to avoid the traffic jams.

I may be heading south on I-25 from Ft Collins. Is the construction on both sides or only one direction?

We came down I-25 from Fort Collins thru Denver late August of 2019 and it seemed to be under construction the whole way. It also rode like a runway that had been shelled.

We lived in Greeley CO in the 80's and 90s and I can't they are just now starting to fix the mess 30 years later.

Traffic often completely stops as well

470 toll will be more than 6 with a DP towing but it sure might save time

Tolls

Called E 470 toll people to day was told from south to north it would be around $80.00 for 4 axles. May just have to brave I 25.

In the past we would totally by-pass Denver when going north or south. I exit I-25 at the Springs and go east then north or visa-versa.

We do not like big cities and I'll go a long ways to avoid them frequently. Other's find them them exciting I guess.

I 25 Denver

I just noticed you're going south to north. In that case just reverse the route I recommended. If you decide to take I-25 to US36 you may not have to worry about the low clearance but if you do it will be in the right lane at the same bridge.

This d&/#@ed app is driving me crazy. I went to edit a long post with detailed instructions for traveling south to north then realized you wanted to travel in the opposite direction.
Here it is again in abbreviated form. I frequently drive RT between Castle Rock and Boulder. Did it 5 days ago. No construction or other delays on I-25 through Denver to US36 to Boulder and back. There is an older arched bridge near Wiggly Field at Mile High Stadium that has a low clearance of ~12'6" in one lane. I think it's the right lane northbound and left lane southbound. Be alert. The 2 middle lanes are safe either way.
I haven't driven I-25 north of the US36/I-25 intersection for several months. I drove it frequently before that to and from Loveland. The only construction I saw was work on on/off ramps at 104th and 144th avenues that posed no problems for traffic.
If you decide to take I-25 and are worried about possible construction on I-25 north of Denver I recommend taking US36 north several miles to US287 North in Broomfield. You can then take it northbound through Longmont, Loveland and Fort Collins. You can pop back over to I-25 whenever you want.
If you want to bypass Denver altogether I recommend leaving I-25 North at the C470 exit and follow it west then north as it curves around the west side of Denver. Do NOT go eastbound on E470 or you will get a toll ticket in the mail in a few weeks.
C470 crosses I-70 just south of Golden where you can pick up CO93 which will take you through Boulder and the CU main campus. You can pop back over to I-25 on CO128 from CO93 to Broomfield, CO119 through Boulder to and through Longmont. There are several other options to get back to I-25.
My favorite route northbound is to pick up US287 from CO93 to CO128 to Broomfield to US287. It's a nice drive on US287 through Lafayette, Longmont, Loveland and Fort Collins. There are many USFS campgrounds along CO14 out of Fort Collins which follows the Poudre River if you want to head towards Steamboat Springs.
Sorry. I lied about the "abbreviated" form.

Just wanted to hang around and see when the Real Cost of 470 would be revealed - - - - in a car you seldom only are charged $6 - sorry but this is a True Lexas Route as the cost is just prohibitive to use for everyone else.

Think, if they ever really wanted to lower the traffic count on I-25 the would need to more than just divide the rate by 2 to get people on it - maybe 3-5 would be fair.

JMHO,

JMHO,

Yes you are correct, it is much more than $6. After reading your post this morning, I had to look back at my Alamo Rental car account to see what we were charged. It was actually $16.35 for the van I rented.

Going south thru Denver, how about I-270/36 to I-225 back to I-25. Is that a less congested way during the middle of the day.
