I-25 New Mexico to I-10 Phoenix

Oct 12.... Nov. 12th...4+ weeks
Leaving Albq, down I-25 to Deming, How is route 26 ? or should I go on to Las Cruces, then going I-10 to Tombstone then to Phoenix.

Have never been on this route... where do you suggest to stay, site see etc.
I have 35' Class A with tow car.

Thanks for the info

Route 26 is a good way to avoid Las Cruces. Flat 2 lane road with some traffic. Much of the road looked like new pavement when we traveled last April.

Definitely go the Demming shortcut way. We traveled it last Thanksgiving and the road is great. We stay in Green Valley so never have camped around there. My folks used to stay at some campground in Demming, so you can research and see if there is one nearby there that suits you.

Used that route in both directions - saves a bunch of time and the road is fine. Any time you can bypass Las Cruses is good.

I have stayed at Little Vineyard RV Park on two different occasions ... decent place ... run by very nice people ... large pull through sites for those staying a few nights ... many people winter here ...

Highway 26 has wide lanes and wide shoulders and goes through a broad valley ... lot of peppers for sale at Hatch, NM

From Deming, it is a nice drive to Silver City. City of Rocks is on the way... and Gila Cliff dwellings are north of there ....

Rock Hounds State Park is nearby

Go for it.. was on it in June, twice.. Little Vinyard Rv park in Deming is a decent park like someone said, all desert sand but for a night or two it works great..

And the smell of hot roasting chilies in Hatch is a bonus of that route!
