I-40

Looking to drive from Nashville to NC, does I-40 still have some closure?

Maybe a state that has 2 seasons. Winter and road construction.

Before retiring when I had to travel in winter, I would check the website that provided road for each state I was going through.

The bridge over the Mississippi opened in early August.

I'm sure somewhere along I-40 there's a closure. It's a long route since it goes from NC to CA. There always some section closed at any given moment. Can you narrow down where you're looking for said closure?

He’s probably talking about the I-40 bridge over the Mississippi in Memphis. It re-opened a couple months ago. All OK there now.

I live at Mile Marker 24 in NC off of I40. I do not know of any closures on the route you are talking about right now. The gorge ( entrance to NC ) can have closures due to wrecks and construction but there are none at this time. There was a closure just East of Knoxville about a week ago but I think that has cleared up now. Good luck with your travels

I didn't know it was called “The Gorge” but I immediately knew what you were referring to having just run 40 from Barstow to Durham on my way to Richmond last December. Very scenic stretch of road but we encountered a bit of snow along the way which I try to avoid in a coach.

It's rare that interstates have complete closures. There may be construction in some areas.

What area are you talking about?

We just came from Hickory NC to Nashville 9/1/2021, no closures then. We are in Arizona on I40 heading back home now so if you run into any please post back. Thanks
