I-55 between Memphis and St. Louis question

I drove this route northbound last month and there was one stretch of road (about 25 miles) where the road was so rough that I had to slow down to 55 MPH to keep the motor home in one piece. I was so distracted by the bad road that I failed to note where this section was. We are heading home in the next few weeks and I want to avoid this section. Can someone provide any insight as to where this section might be?

I-55 between Memphis and St. Louis question

I know the exact area you are talking about. We drove it about a month ago on our way northbound from Memphis to South Dakota. If I remember correctly it was just north of Blytheville and was about a 10 mile stretch. Had to be the worst stretch of Interstate highway Iíve ever encountered. I got over in the left lane which was only slightly better. I donít know about the southbound side. We exited I-55 and came home through Dyersburg to avoid the area. It may have all been in Arkansas as I seem to remember the MO roads got much better.

Ditto for us. Last we drove that section through Arkansas the road surface was so bad the generator shut down. I like the route but hate using the road!

Was planning on taking I55 in a month or so from Memphis to Sikeston, mo. would US 61 be a better choice? would miss that bad section you are all talking about? Or take US51 to Dyersburg, then over west?
