I-70 Indy to St Louis

Has anybody driven this route lately ?
Went this way last year & the construction was terrible. Looking to go to Dallas & trying to decide on a decent route.

We drive through St. Louis every year in September-usually around the northern (I-270) bypass since we camp in St. Charles. Checking the MO DOT website indicated construction on northern and southern (I-64) routes, so we drove I-70 right through town with no issues. Still, better check more current conditions MoDOT Traveler Information Map

From Indianapolis you don't go through St. Louis. Delorme mapping program sends you on this route:

I-70 to I-57 (no St. Louis) to I-55 to Memphis to I-40 west to Little Rock to I-30 into Dallas. It's 900 miles.
