I-80 in Utah major road closures

There are going to be some major road closures of I-80 in Utah Tuesday July 31, 2018 and Wednesday August 1 if any of you are traveling through

Westbound I-80
The westbound lanes will be closed between mile marker 141 (Jeremy Ranch) and 137 (Lamb's Canyon) beginning Tuesday, July 31, at 8 p.m. and continuing to 6 a.m. the next morning Wednesday August 1.
If you are westbound on I-80 you have two options.
1) Take I-84 Westbound at Echo Junction, approximately mile marker 169. This will take you to the Ogden Utah area with access to I-15, I-84 and US 89. This is about 40 miles North of Salt Lake City,
2)About mile marker 146 take US 40 Eastbound toward Heber at Silver Creek Junction. Follow US 40 through Heber City to US-189 South. This will take you down Provo canyon to Orem Utah and access to I-15. This is about 40 miles south of Salt Lake City. Mind the speed limits when entering Heber City.

Eastbound I-80
The eastbound closure will occur between mile markers 137 and 141 beginning Wednesday, Aug. 1, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday Aug 2.
The same alternate routes only in reverse of the westbound alternates.

I know I grew up in Salt Lake City for 35 years. But anyway in particular the Summit County fire along with road construction on I-80 westbound will cause road closures. Alternate routes out of Park City are. 1. Take 1-80 east up to Coalville/ Echo canyon and take I-84 west through Ogden canyon down to I-15 in Ogden which will then allow to head south to Salt Lake or North toward Idaho. The other route that's much longer is to go east on I-80 and take the Silver Creek junction exit and head south on U.S 40 south until you get to Heber City. Then proceed southwest through Provo Canyon onto the I-15 corridor in Provo. These routes will likely help you avoid the fire, construction areas and keep you away from the traffic as a result. Hope this helps.

You can take a look at the UDOT traffic cameras to see what traffic is like before you head out by going to www.udot.utah.gov

Thanks for the heads up, have a friend headed to Sturgis on his bike sometime next week through that area. I'll pass this along to him.

Important update

IMPORTANT UPDATE
I seems that the closure date/days and directions have been updated do to delays.
The Westbound lanes will be closed again tonight, Wednesday Aug1. The Eastbound closures will be pushed back at least one day.
The UDOT mobile app is a good source of closure information.
