I-95 Thru Jacksonville
Will be rolling thru Jacksonville, FL. next week, and was wondering if I should use I-295 around it, instead of going thru it. And if I-295 is better, which side should I use, East or West side?

I have used the West Side.
We went through Jax last month-construction ongoing, slow moving getting across the St Johns River (traffic Narrows down) . But- I still think it takes longer to do the Beltway.
No big deal either way-not like Atlanta-St Louis-New York-Boston etc. Lots of water views..

I'd stay right on I95. The loops take you out of the way and the traffic isn't that bad on I95.

Seriously?? 95 through Jacksonville sucks Donkey Kong. The new loop is better then sliced bread and I use the east loop to head south, Oh ya I've used it every year since they started construction on it and called it Rt 9 I think.

And time your trip to avoid rush hour traffic. 11AM was OK for me last time, but maybe a local can chime in with a better window.

We have been using the beltway around Jacksonville for several years. We have found that the eastbound route is much better than the westbound route.

Best idea is to avoid rush hours, Epically evening rush.. 3 am you will not have any backups less someone does something very stupid and likely fatal (In front of you hopefully several miles)
Hey I don't knwo where you are coming from but 49 miles north of the FL state line is Darian, GA.. 3 miles north of the exit is Cathead Creek Ranch RV park.. your SAT TV will work great here (NO Shade) I'm on site 12

We have gone straight thru about half the time and have used I-295 the other half. No real issues either way. Both ways can be busy and last year, we were stuck for sometime on I-295 due to a traffic accident. Just avoid rush hour traffic using either route.

Drove through Jacksonville on I-95 9:30 am ten days ago. Had no problems. Traffic moved very smoothly.

I take I 95 straight through several times a year. Just avoid rush times. Traveled at the speed limit every time.

The east side bypass has the better road. If you run thru JAX around the rush hour, either way will go from 70-80 mph to a complete stop where the bypass joins the main I-95.

Thank you Dave
Which do you prefer when going through...? I am not sure at this point what time it will be .......when we pass through. I am going to say it is going to be on a Sunday anyway.

Is there any way to go through there and avoid those bridges? They are not fun!
