Idaho Hwy. 55 or 95?

If we go north up through Idaho heading to Coeur D' Alene from either Boise (Hwy. 55) or Ontario (Hwy. 95); what would be wanting to be aware of? We have the Mountain Directory West.

Is McCall Hill heading north a concern? It says at some point, "there are 25 mph curves going to 7%. The curves are sharp and continuous as is the grade for about 2.5 miles".

Maybe Hwy. 95 would be better?

55 has a fairly good drop into Horseshoe Bend. Been years since that way maybe 4-5 miles. Don't really remember anything special about leaving McCall.

Going to Ontario and taking 95 is about the same time wise, maybe a little faster.

95 near White Bird you will have about a 7 mile 7% climb. Nothing real exciting on the north side. Then another 7 mile 7% climb pulling out of Lewiston. Another climb south of CDA 40 miles, (?) I don't recall the the area it was at, everything was white and looked the same.

At the top of Lewiston Grade you can take 195 up to Spokane then I-90 to CDA. It is rolling hills but dry land. 95 is more scenic IMO but 195 is quicker and straighter.

they are clearing (or cleared ) a rock slide on 55 i believe they are using on temporary lane for both directions so you may have a wait. the only way around is 95 other wise i prefer 55 as it is more scenic

55 is more scenic, more mountains, more turns and climbs/drops, but still good road. 95 is faster, easier drive, still very scenic.
